Competitiveness of the Polish-Belarusian borderland is believed to be strongly linked to the tourist potential of the region. The unified system for marking tourist tracks along with accessibility of the regions tourist areas is of concern to both, Polish and Belarusian target groups and final beneficiaries.The overall aim of increasing exploitation of tourist potential in order to increase social and economic effects of cross- border area defines concrete activities that will be implemented during the project.The projects envisions the marking of 400 km-length tracks in Poland and 200km in Belarus, creation of 78 various-size information boards located on a cross-border bicycle track as well as putting parking places, publication of multilingual tourist guidebook and map.The area is planned to be turned into a place of active leisure, which will attract tourists and contribute to the increase of investment into the region. The project therefore is a chance to introduce and multiply the tourist potential of Eastern Poland and Western Belarus. The project is seen not only as an opportunity to exchange experience among research personnel but a chance to increase tourist attractiveness of the region and thus influence hotel and gastronomic industry in the region. Expected Results: Increasing of trans-border tourism potential of the area by the year 2013. Specific objectives: 1) creation of the offer of trans-border touristic products such as bike paths, guidebook and touristic maps; 2) improvement conditions for active trans-border tourism; 3) creation of cooperation platform for development of trans-border touristic products.
