Beyond Boundaries - A Leadership Training in Diversity
Date du début: 1 janv. 2013,

“Beyond Boundaries - A Leadership Training in Diversity” provides an opportunity for Guiding and Scouting associations across Europe to explore the concepts and themes of leadership development in a variety of settings and backgrounds. The five days training course will take place at Ishøj Vandrehjem in the area of Copenhagen (Denmark) and will gather 23 participants from 14 countries in Europe. Next to the European participants, 30 young people from other 18 different countries will be part of the event. The training course aims at building capacity of young people in decision making positions to lead in diverse volunteer-lead environments. It will bring together and provide a platform for young people who are board members and decision makers within single sex and coeducational associations to share experiences and learn from each other in leadership development. The specific objectives of the projects are:• To explore leadership theories and practices in a global context with special focus on promoting and fostering leadership development in single sex and coeducational settings;• To explore the concept of leadership in diversity with special attention to gender, cultural and intergenerational perspectives;• To provide the opportunity for participating organisations to share experiences and to engage into a reflection on diversity in leadership approaches within and outside the Guiding and Scouting movement;• To provide a learning platform to participating organisations on themes connected to innovative leadership development practices. In a non-formal education setting, though interactive participatory methods and peer learning, the project activities will strengthen participants’ skills and knowledge in the leadership development field. Workshops, key-note speakers, sharing sessions and personal reflection will help participants to develop their understanding of diversity, their leadership skills (communication, conflict management, intercultural understanding and salesmanship) and to be able to increase organisational awareness to the topic in their national organisations. The outcomes of the project will benefit a great number of young leaders across Europe involved in Guide and Scout associations since participants will develop and implement post-training projects and act as multipliers in their own organisations. The participation in this project should therefore leave significant impact on the national associations, the surrounding communities and environment.Continuous evaluation will be a part of each project phase, ensuring its quality and compliance with objectives and expectations.
