TERMINÉ
“Include Me!” is a Youth Exchange project involving 7 organisations 2 of which are from Turkey, and 1 each from Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary and Austria. During 8 days (travel days included) 38 participants aged between 18-30 and 8 leaders will carry out the project in our city, Sakarya. In the project, with the youngsters we will discuss the problems that Syrian refugees face in the countries on their fleeing route because of prejudices, discrimination, xenophobia, intolerance against differences (especially Islamophobia) and minorities. At this point we aim to;- include war victims in social life-feel empathy and build tolerance -raise awareness among youngsters about refugees’ lives by sharing experiences -integrate innocent civilians and especially children in our society-destroy xenophobia and prejudices against different religions and races -prevent discrimination of the refugees, contribute to inclusionWe decided to prepare this project as a result of the meetings we held with the young volunteers of our association when we determined the increase in hateful statements and inhumane behaviours. Via this project we plan to cover the needs of our participants such as meeting different cultures and getting rid of prejudices, feeling empathy, being a socially responsible European citizen, improving language skills and building self-confidence. Besides, they will have the chance to meet new cultures, dances and cuisines through cultural nights.Project activities are young-centered ones which are based on informal education. They are as follows:• Workshops and seminars,• Debates and conversations,• Drama, representation and sketches,• Interviews,• Creating posters, slogans and logos,• Painting T-shirts, • Recording short films/documentaries,• Presenting cultural food and dance.The effects and the results that we forsee:On Participants;• inquisitive attitude and experience about the solution of social problems,• sympathy in different cultures and religions,• sensitivity to social events and awareness,• negative attitude against prejudices, discrimination, racism and xenophobia• informatics skills, • creativeness,• critical thinking,• social responsibility,• leadership and self-confidence,• skills in foreign languages,On Leaders and Partner Organisations;• increase in motivation to create new activity fields for youngsters,• activeness in social inclusion,• initiative in social problems,• increase in productivenessOn decision-maker associations;• initiative in social problems,• more investments in creating opportunities for youth,• activeness in community work,The effect of the activities will be increased via disseminating the results among third parties by means of web sites, social networks,social media groups, posters, billboards and notice boards.In terms of long term benefits of the project, participants will build tolerance for the war victims, minorities and different religions. They will also find out the how significant social inclusion is in order to contribute to peace and humanity. Additionally, they will have sensitivity in social problems by personally witnessing concrete persons and their lives and use this sensitivity to raise awarenes among the third parties. On the other hand, our organisation will share the good practices with the related organisations to give them inspiration about the target topic.
