Baltic Sea Hub and Spokes Project

The main objective is to facilitate a modal shift from road to sea by providing efficient transport solutions and improving access to markets in Central and Northern Europe. Through marketing of the Baltic Sea Region as one market with an integrated hubs and spokes structure, the aim is to develop more efficient transportation hubs in the Baltic Sea Region with extensive feeder activities. The Baltic Sea Hub and Spokes project is a joint project for the ports of Gothenburg, Aarhus and Tallinn. In a wider perspective and in a later phase, the project will also aim to include other ports in the Baltic Sea geographical area and neighbouring countries.The activities included in the project are a mixture of studies and real infrastructure investments. The overall aim is a transparency throughout the transportation chain, both for the ports itself but also for the overall shipping community which is achieved by efficient sharing of information through Achievements: Bridge over Skandia Rail Yard open for trafficThe new bridge over the Skandia Rail Yard was opened for traffic on December 4, 2013. The bridge connects Vädermotet and Ytterhamnsmotet with APM’s container terminal, Logent’s car terminal and Älvsborg Roro.
