Background to european business

An important part to secure qualified employees for the companies is in the dual educational system. To achieve this, it’s mandatory to recruit qualified students for an apprenticeship. One marketing strategy is an additional offer such as an internship in another country. These trainings in other countrys are very helpful for the exercise and the amplification of foreign languages and the knowledge of international business relations. Especially aprentice in commercial areas will have a huge benefit in these trainings. During the last period of sponsorship, the IHK Ulm sent 48 commercial apprentice in two groups to London. The first group (23 apprentice) went in 2015 from June 21 to July 11. The second group (25 apprentice) went in 2016 from May 15 until June 14. The stay took three weeks. During these three weeks, the trainees attended the European College of Business and Management (ECBM) in London to acquire the additional qualification „Kaufmann/frau International“ (AHK = Chamber of Commerce Abroad). The apprentice attended the class from monday through friday from 9.30 am until 4.45 pm. The class was a mixture of theoretical knowledge and practical based field trips. The final test was divided in three parts to achieve the additional qualification „Kaufman/frau International (AHK)“. The first two parts took place in London, the last part had to be done after returning to Germany. The following skills had been imparted: - British economy - Financial markets - London as a cosmopolitan city and an commercial center - Marketing and advertising - Language teaching and business correspondence During the stay, the students were housed in host families to further increase the intercultural skills and language knowledge.
