The two partners decided at the end of 2009 to realize a joint project with the objective to bring people closer to nature. The ÓNTE, in majority owned by Szeged, and the Banat Museum of Timisoara are planning to organize joint natural programmes and the establishment of an information database. The basis of the long-term cooperation is the commitment of the two organizations for nature.The primary objective is to improve the key conditions required for the joint development of the cooperation area along the natural values and to create services that contribute to the protection of natural values of both countries and to the promotion of a back-to-nature lifestyle for the concerned population. The aim of the cross-border nature protection cooperation is to bring nature closer to the concerned Hungarian, Romanian people and other nationalities and to present its hidden values. Two houses of nature will be established within the project (House of Banat, House of Puszta), which will be information centres, and 2 traditional buildings will be renovated on the territory of the ÓNTEs skanzen. The main objective of the project will be realized within the organized programmes. The planned 14 programmes include summer camps, conferences and meetings; these will be organized during the 18-month project period.The main activities of the project are: organization of programs, equipment procurement and construction works.The target groups of this project is formed by all people interested in nature, the users of services of the House of Puszta and the House of Banat, participants of events organized by the partners, ecoturists, association members, researchers, nature-lovers, youth, and the population of the two regions in a wider sense.
