BabelWeb - Apprentissage en ligne de l'espagnol, du fran ais et de l'italien par l'approche actionnelle

The aim of this project is to design and build a site for learning and using threeRomance languages – Spanish, French and Italian – implementing the action-basedapproach defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages(CEFR) and fostering communication and cooperation between learners, as well asreceptive multilingualism.The site will offer learning modules based on tasks common to the three languageswhich can be performed online using web 2.0 tools (blogs, wikis, forums, chats). It willalso provide the opportunity for learners (young adults, students and adults) to havehands-on experience in real social interactions and will help promote communicationand cooperation between students of Romance languages. By proposing common tasksthat can be performed on the multilingual tools, the project aims to contribute tospreading the idea of mutual understanding and promote receptive multilingualism.There will be interactive activities related to the tasks to help learners acquireknowledge and especially the skills required for implementing the tasks proposed.BabelWeb will develop genuine learning activities by providing online help and detailedfeedback to help students understand and correct their mistakes. The activities will alsohelp develop strategies and show learners how using web-based resources can helpthem develop and bolster their skills, particularly in production.Information on the project methodology, especially in terms of action-basedimplementation, and educational fact sheets, will help all teachers interested in usingBabelWeb products in their classroom practice sessions. The project brings togetherinstitutions from various countries that focus on the various target groups of the project –schoolchildren, students and adults. These are institutions with good language-teachingskills that use sound teaching methods, especially as concerns the integration ofInternet, and also have a good dissemination potential.Furthermore, as it is based on the strong networks provided by the partners, BabelWebpromises to be widely used as soon as the first modules are published online.
