Our Azagra trilangue project is framed within the involvement of the teaching staff in IESO Reyno de Navarra with:
A) The collaborative program with the official language school in French and English.
B) The incorporation of bilingualism to our teaching.
C) Multilingual programmes.
The teaching staff involved in this project consists of 7 teachers, 2 of them have been using French and the rest of them English. Two more teachers have also collaborated with this Project: David Pérez, who took a course in Toronto although his mobility isn´t included in the Erasmus + grant and Rocío Pérez, a member of the english seminar.
Teachers travelling to the United Kingdom attended the following courses:
A) In Exeter, IPC teacher training:
1) Erasmus +: Developing Oral fluency in the Secondary Inglés Language Classroom.
2) Erasmus +: Inglés Better For Teachers.
B) At Total Immersion English in London
C) In Ireland
D) In France
English for teachers.
Teachers who travelled to Canada (without Erasmus+ grant) took a course in General Inglés The Language Gallery, Toronto.
Some of the activities planned to carry out the project in our center were the following ones:
A) Opening a whatsapp account by the group of teachers involved.
B ) Creation of the Project Logo among the students of 3º ESO through a school drawing competition .
C ) To celebrate the European day of languages on 26th September , the languages department organized a rap contest in English and French for students of 2nd ESO.
D ) Creating the anthem of the project and designing a sweater with the logo by the students of 1st ESO
E) Gymhkana about two books; one in English and the other one in French with the students of 1st ESO
F) A theatre play including dialogues in English. ( The starting point of the play was the preparation of an english exam by the students )
G) An educational Blog about topics outside school but related to education with English and French sections coordinated by students of 4th ESO.
H) To sow and plant in the PROA school garden and tree planting in the local land (given to our school by the townhall of Azagra) after developing a thematic glossary in English.
I) The activities to be carried out to celebrate the day of the book were as follows:
1) Some parents together with students and relatives read "El principito" in different languages.
2) Book swap.
3) A selfie/ tale competition in english.
K) Creation of a turbine, a wind wheel, an electric car, and a tangram with a previous preparation of a technical glossary and a subsequent report in English.
The results of our Azagra trilangue project have improved creativity, oral and written skills of students involved. Moreover, the staff will implement certain activities to be outlined in next courses. The contests, competitions and activities that exceed the framework of specific classroom will be incorporated into the school yearly general programme . It will familiarize students with these activities and achieve a consecration of the project.
An interdisciplinary methodology based on the use of new technologies and feedback from participants in the various activities has been used . Acquisition of different skills will be sought in each and every one of the planned activities.
It is expected that students can handle the other languages in new facets and through playful activities awakens their interest for its use or handling .
Teachers will try to handle their subjects by using other linguistic registers for the students to reach a certain level of bilingualism. In the long term is to consolidate certain activities , contests and competitions that stimulate labor, the creation and use of other languages.
The relevance of this project, either at national and/or regional level and in the context of the programme objectives is to be seen in three different prespectives:
- the importance literature, sport and technology should have in the lives of the cities;
- the connection between what students learn at school and real life;
- the creation of chains of collaborative work of teachers and students.
In short, the underlying theme of the project is strengthening the spirit of European citizenship. The communication between the members of this so global world. With illusion we will be able to ensure our entire educational community. The dialogue in a democratic framework will create world citizens in the whole dimension of the word.
