The AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION OF SNAILS & NATURAL FOOD presents the program entitled "Utilization & Product Marketing of Snails (caviar, foie, creams, shell etc.)" which negotiates the use of products derived from snails. In recent years the interest in the development of the snail farming has increased significantly and it is an alternative investment in the primary sector. The resulting product is innovative and there is quite a large export demand from the countries of the EU. However, in our country there is no corresponding growth in manufacturing and snail farm products derived from it (caviar, foie, creams, shell, slime, etc.), as in the foreign countries, leaving them several untapped business opportunities offered by snail farming. This is mainly due to the fact that the information is usually focused on cultivation itself and does not extend to the field of processing, packaging and marketing of products. Snail products have high nutritional value and can also be used in many other applications, such as cosmetics and dermatology products for skin care. For this reason there is great demand and high commercial value in international markets. The context of economic crisis and the first signs of saturation observed in snail farming can spur business expansion of snail producers for processing, either individually or through cooperatives. This will lead to optimum utilization of all resources produced and will greatly stimulate entrepreneurship and growth in the industry. The central aim of the proposal is the mobility of 25 beneficiaries (employers / HR managers) in Italy to specialize for business opportunities in the manufacturing of snail products. It will be a presentation and update on the products produced by the snail, the commercial and nutritional value, applications and ways of utilizing and also receiving expertise on the formulation, management and marketing of these products. The educational needs of the trainees (employers who have personnel and business executives) result from the economic conditions and the first signs of saturation in the field and are directly linked to the needs of the market on both local and international level, and are as follows: • Introduction on marketing standards and product distribution, • Understand the know-how required for standardization and processing snail products, • Improve quality and increase the range of products produced, • Understanding and adapting to the demands of the international market, • Stimulating entrepreneurship. This action will have a multiplier effect and will result to a more efficient investment management of the producers and quality customization of products to the needs of the market, giving added value to the action of strengthening the image of snail exports. The specific objectives of the program are for the participants to be trained in modern techniques applied abroad, and are particularly distinguished: • Enhancing the capacity of participants to enable them to successfully meet the requirements formulated in the field of product distribution of snail • Ensuring the ability of the participants to broaden the range of their activities, • Adopting new techniques and methods which are already widely used in the international market. The total project duration is 14 days and will be held in Italy with 25 beneficiaries that are snail farmers and managers of personnel who are members of the Association. The training mission will take place from 10/01/2015 until 23/01/2015. The Host Institution ISTITUTO INTERNAZIONALE DI ELICICOLTURA DI CHERASCO has expertise regarding the subject of training and is engaged in snail farming and standardization of snail products.
