Our project is a consortium in the application ownership of Pendik Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and our consortium partners are Ankara Incirli Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and Istanbul Gurpinar IMKB Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. Our project is about escalator systems and escalator band systems in general. From 11st and 12nd graders, each consortium member will provide 15 students and 1 accompanying teacher, in total 45 students and 3 accompanying teachers will participate in the project. By creating a project team and signing contracts with our local and international partners, the project process have already started. Even though vocational schools are providing great deal of knowledge for their students about electrical and electronics technologies, when it comes to applying these technologies to new systems, our students are still struggling with it. When they graduate, only a few of our students are able to find satisfactory jobs in their fields and for that reason, it is essential for our students to improve themselves in many different fields before they graduate. Our project team had done a detailed research on the sector about job opportunities and it turned out that escalator systems are growing rapidly in our country and there is an emerging need of labor in that sector since all systems requires constant care and maintanence. As a result of the project, our students will be employed and fulfill the sector’s need of labor. Our project will give our participating students the opportunity to meet with their future collegaues and important businessmen in the region, thanks to our dissemination activities. They will have the chance to participate in internships and this will increase their chance to be employed. Our students and accompanying teachers will share their experiences with non-participating students and it will widen our project’s area of influence. This project will be beneficial for our student’s cultural improvement as well. They will observe the life style and the organizational structure if a Europen country and this will improve their cultural awareness. They will generate a different perspective of life under the light of their experiences. The project will not only help them improve their proficiency in English but also make them eager to learn another foreign language.
