Autism is a growth difference involving verbal or nonverbal communication problems, repetitive behaviours, sometimes adjustment problems, a complex process manifested by limited interests and social interaction. It is congenital or appears in the first three years and continues to the end of life. Nowadays, autism is the most common neurological disorder and has incidence of 1 in 88 according to the datas of Center for Disease Control and Prevention which are obtained in the year 2012. Currently, there isn’t enough scientific data on the prevalence of autism in our country ,While this prevalence data is sourced from The USA. It is emphasized not only autistic disorder can be seen in all races, ethnic groups or groups that have different social status’ but also there is no connection between autism disorders and family’s income, lifestyle or educational level. Autism is more prevalent in boys than girls according to the general consensus in relation to gender. Autism is a special education category which is very commonly heard in our country in recent years, as well as all over the world. In time, the term autism has been replaced by the term autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Autism spectrum disorders are synonymous with pervasive developmental disorders (PDD) and are used in the sense of a complex developmental disabilities at an advanced level. However, autism is only one of the categories under this umbrella. While researches made in America have reached the evaluation that autism is seen 1 or 2 ratings in every 150 children, today that number is seen in 1 out of every 80 children. Scientifically, the proven intensive training period to children in the early years as individual and group training is 40 hours per week. The children who benefit from special education services provided as it specified show a tremendous progress; even threre are numerous international scientific researches which show close to half of them away from the most of the problems specific to autism and they can sustain the rest of their education lives in a general education scheme. In this sense, the period of intensive training applied on autism training in developed countries in the world is at least 20 hours in a week and it is provided as an individual training. However, today in our country individuals diagnosed with autism can get individual training 2 sessions in a week it means it is 10% of required training hours. In Turkey, diagnosis of autism are maintained by Guidance and Research Centre (RAM) in pre-school and school-age. Children's educational assessment and diagnostics created in RAM are done by the Special Education Review Board with various tests and other measurement tools according to individuals’ characteristics. It is taken into account the child's medical evaluation report with mental, physical, spiritual, social, developmental history, characteristics in all development areas, performances in the field of academic education, needs, time to benefit from educational services and individual development report. After the educational evaluation and diagnostic, Special Education Evaluation Committee Report and Training Plan are prepared for the children who are determined to be in need of special education. These documents are renewed every year for the students who get training and support services from the special education instutions. The main aim of this Project that we prepared under the scope of Erasmus Plus program; is to provide vocational training in the field of autism diagnostic and guidance in European countries, especially for our Guidance Center, our pre-school education teachers who works in high schools that have child development and education division, our administrators, our experts and psychological counselors.
