AVRUPA'DA KALİTE GELİŞTİRME UYGULAMALARI
Date du début: 31 déc. 2015, Date de fin: 30 déc. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our project, prepared by Açıkalın Primary School, is directed to class teachers and branch teachers. Our participants will receive training on Dewey’s Teaching Strategies within the body of the foreign institution. The training period will be 10 business days and 46 hours within the scope of 2-week mobilization activities. Our project, in which 20 teachers will participate, will be realized in 2 mobilizations. Since 2005, a transition to student-centered education model has been experienced in our country’s education system. New curriculum programme of the Ministry of National Education supports the transition to a mental, constructive approach from a strict behavioural programme. In this programme, teaching is emphasized as well as education. The objective here is to raise a generation which handles problems analitically, see the relationship between the whole and its parts and which can question, research, produce solution, and is creative and away from rote learning. Our project is prepared to implement and disseminate the student-centered teaching model. Contemporary researches made in the area of educational sciences proves that a teaching model in which the mind of students is considered as an effective strategy focus and placed at the centre have significant effects on enabling students to make sense of the information received and revealing their creativity. A research made by Harvard University on 11,000 primary school students observes that the interest and motivation of students for lessons decrease in classes where teacher-centered teaching model prioritizing information overload is implemented. It is also observed that students enjoy lessons and tend to make researches in classes where the student-centered teaching model is implemented (teaching.uncc.edu , 20.07.2013). Our institution which has the status of a primary school has an important position in providing students with a step to the information world. Teacher-centred teaching model should be replaced by student-centred teaching model in order to provide our students with quality education services. In this context, the main requirement for our teachers is to learn updated and effective teaching strategies which place the student at the centre. Our participants wil receive training on Dewey’s Teaching Strategies under our project. Dewey’s teaching system may be summarized as follows: According to the dominant understanding before Dewey, the focus was not on the student; it was on the teacher, on the boook; namely, on everything other than the child. Dewey’s education system moved this focus. According to Dewey, the most effective learning may be achieved by doing and living. The nature of the children and their individual differences should be taken into account and the child should be the centre of the education and the lessons should be organized according to their interests and abilities. The children should never be pushed to rote learning and the emphasis should be put on practice rather than theory. The information should never be given readymade; the children should be given the opportunity yo discover and think. Within the scope of our project, class and branch teachers working in our institutions will receive training on Dewey’s Teaching Strategies and improve their professional knowledge and skills. With this project, our teachers will learn teaching methods supporting student-centred teaching model and use these methods for their students. As a result of using new teaching methods in our school’s education system; it expected that the students grow more interest on lessons, improve their focusing skills and develop a questioning perspective which retracing the root of problems.
