We are Colegio San Pablo, and we belong to the CEU San Pablo Foundation. Our school has more than 40 years of experience teaching pre-school, primary school, secondary school and Bachillerato. In recent years, our school has followed a strategy of internationalisation with the aim of learning and collaborating with other European schools. An example of how we have achieved this is by becoming a multilingual centre with more hours dedicated to foreign language lessons and by introducing new languages such as French and German. Our school is introducing the CLIL methodology (Content and Language Integrated Learning) in Natural Sciences, Art and P.E in primary education, and gradually in art and technology in secondary education. Despite carrying out several training courses based on this methodology for our staff, we found that there was a lack of experience when it came to came to applying the methodology in the classroom. From this came the idea to create “The CLIL Methodology in Natural Sciences.”The aim is to improve the way in which we teach these subjects in English by using the CLIL methodology. Six of our teachers will participate in the project: a pre-school teacher who teaches English at this level; three English teachers who are in charge of teaching English as a subjects as well as the teaching of other subjects in English (Natural Sciences and Art): and two secondary school teachers who teach English as a subject as well as through other subjects. The activities we are requesting for the project are made up of six observation periods (Job shadowing), five of which will be in Sweden, and one in France which will take place in April, June and July of the next academic year 2016/2017.We will collaborate by exchanging educational practices with the agreement of teachers. During the academic year, meetings between schools will also take place via Skype, and via Etwinning through which a project will be created within a platform that all the students of the school can participate in.The school has created a work group that will carry out, coordinate and manage the project, and who will supervise the project and its progress. Our aim is that, through the activities of the project, participants will acquire a better experience of using the CLIL methodology and will become more familiar with the teaching in English dynamic. Likewise, we hope that they will improve their English language skills through a context of total immersion and expand their intercultural knowledge through direct contact with teachers from other countries. We believe this project will help us to continue with the preparation and realisation of other projects with fellow countries through the Etwinning platform. The realisation of this project and the participants’ subsequent acquisition of knowledge in applying the CLIL method, as well as new skills for the teaching of English through other subjects, will allow us to better introduce the Bilingual Plan to which the school is affiliated. The project will provide a better preparation and competence in applying the CLIL methodology, both to the participants and the whole staff through training activities organised by the school, which will improve the quality of the teaching.
