In our oral and maxillofacial surgery in Bremen we train young people to qualified dental employees and would like to give to 4 trainees within 2 years the possibility to make a 4-week training period in a dentist's practise in Portugal. Also we want to send two dental doctors. The internship in Portugal will be a relevant part of the vocational training for our apprentices because with us they work in a specialised practice. In Portugal they will get complementary knowledge in the area of the general dentistry which is for us of minor importance, e.g. in the area of prophylaxis and paedodontology. The mobility of the dental doctor to Greece has the task is to get to know new methods in the area of oral surgery and prepare them for the training of our apprentices. One task of the mobility to Portugal is the improvement of the professional content during the internship of the German participants. In future we also want to give apprentices from Portugal the chance to make an internship at our practice, so we want to develop the content for this exchange during my stay in Portugal. We hope that an internship in Germany will help them on the very difficult jobmarket in Portugal. During their internship the trainees will assist the treatments. The main focus will be e.g. filling therapy and prosthetics and the production of temporary dental bridges. Also they should get knowledge of the administration of patient records and appointments and get to know the health and hygiene regulations in Portugal. All activities for the preparation and implementation of the project are carried out together with the practice in Portugal. Also in the area of qualified dental employees we can register that students decide not to finish the vocational education and pass the exam. We hope that the offer of an internship in Portugal will motivate them to finish their training, showing that the profession is interesting.
