TERMINÉ
In order to promote and develop the centres of excellence and to contribute to the development of a polycentric spatial structuring for the Atlantic Area, it is essential to promote the dissemination of the available knowledge. In this connection, the ATLANTECH project is intended to create a network of trans-national co-operation among five regions of the Atlantic Area, aimed at strengthening exchanges of knowledge, technologies, and commercial opportunities within enterprises and between enterprises and centres of Research and Development (R&D). Each partner will have the objective of creating an intra-regional network grouping together several types of organisations (enterprises, universities, centres of R&D, regional administrations), which will make it possible to identify the potential for co-operation. Following on from this, the project will contribute to the establishing of trans-regional and trans-national relations among centres of R&D, micro-enterprises and innovative SMEs, thus accelerating the process of technology transfer. Achievements: Identification of 112 research groups with a potential for the "internationalisation" of their knowledge and technologies; Identification of 37 possible processes for technology transfer or cooperation in R&D; 7 themed missions, hosted by the 5 partners; the first 3 missions aimed at presenting the activities and potential of the host region, visiting R&D centres and promoting the internationalisation process in companies in the 4 countries (ES, PT, UK, IRL). The other tasks concerned the economic sectors which would benefit from the internationalisation of their business (alternative forms of transport, agribusiness, renewable energies, etc.). In addition to these tasks, meetings with SMEs took place; Effective partnership agreements have been set in place: the project has led to the conclusion of 4 partnerships between companies (biotechnologies, bioclimatic habitat and telecommunications, marketing a product); Drafting of reports on the "Proto-model for technology transfer at international level and trans-national cooperation" and on the benchmarking activities conducted; these documents were designed and written to be disseminated mainly within the EU; Creation of brochures and posters about the project to be distributed in the meetings organised by the partners and for dissemination by them; The Atlantech website has been put online to present the activities and promoters of the project and suggest links to the project tools: www.getinternational.biz; Production of CD about the project (1000 copies) containing information about the participating regions, partners, events organised and the successful experiences; Dissemination of an annual newsletter about the project; Organisation of the final conference with presentation of two successful partnerships, experience feedback between partners of the project and presentation of good practices.
