Associação Cultural e Juvenil Batoto Yetu Portugal
Date du début: 1 août 2015, Date de fin: 31 juil. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

A volunteer from Belgium worked for six months with Associação Cultural e Juvenil Batoto Yetu Portugal (BYP). The current project allowed the volunteer to learn about BYP’s work in the field of arts and social integration, to take part in the regular activities and to suggest and help to implement new ideas, contributing to the social development and inclusion of children and youth from underprivileged suburban neighbourhoods, mostly in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (Oeiras County). The volunteer has been involved in the BYP’s daily routines that involve assisting in the planning and execution of workshops and other artistic activities (e.g. african dance and music, construction of masks, theater). Samuel supported two main initiatives: 1) Project Integrate, community-based project supported by the High Commission for Immigration and Intercultural Dialogue (ACIDI), directed at children and youth, mostly 7-24 years-old, from underprivileged families. This project has a large scope of action, focused on the following axis of intervention: school integration, integration in the labour market, community participation, digital inclusion and youth entrepreneurship; 2) Project dedicated to Immigrants, supported also by ACIDI, which develops several actions of direct support to the immigrant community and to raise public awareness to all matters related to the promotion of tolerance, diversity and social inclusion (e.g. promoting conferences and workshops).
