Teaching in the school of 21st c. we are aware of the rapidly changing reality. We can observe that an intensive development of information technologies, unrestricted possibilities of communication, migration based on career, as well as artistic and cognitive needs, make up the principal force and medium of these transformations. The necessary requirement to realise these needs is, apart from IT skills, foreign language competence. We are doing our best to prepare our students to live and work in united Europe. As we feel obliged to show them how to find oneself in this reality- we ourselves have to improve our education, discuss educational systems, encourage the students through our own example to be innovative and active. We want our graduates both to take advantage of the 21st c. civilisation achievements and co- create them. ART WORLD TICKET- Foreign Languages Through Art and Education will be realised by the teachers of ZPPKP in Opole in the years 2015-2017. Our school, artistically profiled, prepares young people for higher education and for working in the field of visual arts and with the possibility of permanent learning continued at home and abroad. Our graduates may take advantage of artistic grants or participate in work shadowing. There is a constant need to make them ready for this sort of activity. The project aims at preparing the teachers for :- improving students` language and communication skills;- creating foreign language learning opportunities, discussing art in general or one`s own artistic output;- using IT possibilities or programmes available only in an English version more effectively and in a more complex way;- bringing closer the latest trends in European design; - introducing European dimension into artistic, social and cultural education; In the project 16 teachers will take part:- foreign language teachers ( English and French ) – 4 people;- general education teachers – 8 people (history of art, history, social studies, physics, mathematics, computer studies, film studies ); - artistic education teachers 4 people (painting, sculpure, multimedia, photography).Within the mobilities` framework 8 teachers will take part in 2-week courses in Great Britain: CLIL Methodology and 6 Bi-Component Secondary. Two French language teachers will participate in LANGUAGE AND CULTURE course in France.During the subsequent meetings which concerned our priorities and preparing this particular application, the group of teachers involved in the project laid down the scheme of how to realise each single task. Apart from the scope of responsibilities for the co-ordinator, the tasks were divided between the three taskgroups : a logistics group ( taking care of the journey preparatory activities, accommodation, tickets` purchase and insurance of the participants), a language and culture preparatory unit which will organise a series of meetings before the course, a finance and paperwork unit ( watching dates and responsibilities of the participants and organisers, monitoring and assessment of the mobilities). The teachers got to know the course offer in Great Britain and they chose the organiser- an institution with which our school has co-operated successfully in the last few years: SHADOWS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT and RICHARD LANGUAGE COLLOGE.The foreseen results are as follows : taking advantage of the acquired skills, new tools and didactic materials- both in general education area and through artistic activities; applying new methods of challenging our students( especially in foreign languages, IT and the language of artistic expression, introducing the CLIL method in the other subjects- history of art, history, social studies, mathematics, physics, IT; starting up the co-operation and sharing experience with other teachers from English schools; learning about methods and the teaching/ learning process; language classes which will prepare our students to function on the international job market; creativity training; and being resourceful in EU countries. The far-fetched, expected results are: participation in subsequent European projects; numerous artistic events; introducing English or French as an artistic diploma exam element; publications in methodical and artistic magazines « Modelowe Nauczanie » (MODN, Opole) and CEA Bulletin « Plastyk ». The Art Cafe idea also seems an interesting concept for the young artists from the region – a club promoting panel discussions in English on the latest trends in the European art, created with an assistance of the local art and culture institutions (GSW, The Art Institute of Opole University).
