Our project is Trans-national Youth Initiative between Sweden and the UK. Our aim is to create a range of artistic material on the topic of violence among youth and present this material online and live in the local community. The material will be promoting non-violence targeted towards teenagers/young adults in the EU. We want to develop our project cooperating with young people who have been involved in - or been victims of - violent crime. We intend to hold interviews which will be developed into: a short film, painting, prosaic and factual texts. The material will be gathered and submitted online via a webpage that will be created for the project. ART vs Violence will go through many stages. The serious and sensitive nature of the theme requires that the each stage of the project; research, development, filming, writing, photographing etc, as well as the exploitation of the results - each is allowed the time and focus required to have maximum impact. Therefore we estimate the project to span over sixteen months. As violence among young people is a problem across the EU sector we intend to work across borders and make the project available to youth in both countries. What is unique with our project is also that we intend to work on all artistic cylinders to make as much impact as possible! In our team we have young people studying and working with painting, journalism, photography, film as well as creative and academic texts. The work we create will be collaborated between and across sectors and all material will be available to everyone in the group in a way that will allow us to influence - as well as learn from – eachother. The wide range of material will be gathered and presented both online and live in our respective communities.
