ARSCOPE is an experimental interdisciplinary project aiming to produce and disseminate artistic projects based on cooperation between artists and scientists. With focus on multimodal interaction tools such neural interfaces the results of the project will stimulate intercultural dialogue concerning the use of scientific tools outside of the laboratory. The overall impact of the project, besides involving / mobilizing various creative and research communities, will be in fostering innovative cultural production and its public reception.ARSCOPE aims to foster links between creativity and complexity while producing, showcasing and documenting best practices in the field where art meets biosciences.In this specifically designed cooperation project our overall objective is to initiate and later sustain a long-term multilateral collaboration across the whole of Europe in domain of art-science cooperation. Such a common environment has not yet been shaped.In ARSCOPE we will connect interdisciplinary artistic excellence, cultural innovation and social relevance in the framework of experimental collaborative practices. We are bringing together artists, cultural operators, educators, scientists as well as policy makers to carry out an original research, co-production and mobility project making it possible for the Europe-wide audiences to enter into an intercultural dialogue between art and science.Activities of the project will include research engines – meetings with thinking leaders about the art-science challenges, creative processes – hands-on workshops aimed at transfer of skills and knowledge, showcase sessions – exhibitions and performances embedded into major European festivals with a strong focus on cross-sectoral approach, interdisciplinary residencies – intensive learning opportunities for artists and researchers, and last but not least production of extensive documentation and promotional assets including web site, book and DVD.
