CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND - The project born considering the necessity of social integration of unaccompanied minor refugees and asylum seekers whom Utilapu has been working with by the Open Doors Working Group since the end of 2012. Realizing their issues as lack of common language, lack of possibilities for self-expression, depression caused by multiple loss, cultural shock, confusion in their identity. We want to motivate them through non-formal education to learn and to cooperate. The volunteers always respecting the steps of the age evolutionary process, the cultural differences and the personal identity of everyone. We want to encourage their individuality too within the Hungarian and European community.OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT - The main objectives of the project are: - the support the integration of unaccompanied minor refugees and asylum seekers, - raising the public interest on the importance of more effective policies of social inclusion, - raising awareness campaign about the EVS and Erasmus+ program.PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS - The selected volunteer is going to be a creative person, able to improvise. She/He should be very patient, tolerant and open minded with good organizing skills, a positive and proactive attitude, able to work well individually and in team, flexible and reliable. It is required from the volunteer to has previous experience with minors and migrants.DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES - The EVS volunteer will communicate with minor refugees and asylum seekers in the Childcare Centre and in the Utilapu office, motivating and supporting them in the labs, workshop and seminaries in which the volunteer will cooperate in the organization part. The volunteer with the target group will draw, paint, write and do other activities to improve their creative skills. There will be also campaigns in order to sensitize the public opinion. The volunteer will commit her/himself in the creation of flyer and web communication. METHODOLOGY - ART will be the main tool of the project. We have chosen art because of its flexibility. Through art, which is an analogical media, ideas, feelings, perceptions can be communicated easier. What we point to is not to create beautiful artifacts but to stimulate our target group in the process of creation and motivate them to self-expression.RESULTS AND IMPACTS - We expected: - a personal/professional growth for the EVS Volunteer, - a stronger motivation for the target group to participate and cooperate in the Hungarian community, - an opportunity for Utilapu to be far more effective with the mentioned target group - an increase of local people awareness about integration and migrants matters and a wider participation to volunteer activities and initiatives.LONGER TERM RESULTS - As we aim to create links with others volunteer organization we point to have a network of connections among cultures and age groups which will bring to a sense of community where humanity is the main aspect that count instead of country of origin, religion and color of the skin. Our purpose is to settle a permanent learning, informative project afterwards "Art for development Vol. 2" which will keep constantly aware local people about volunteer world make feel the asylum seekers integrated in the society.
