Training course ‘Art for Community Development’ was implemented by non-formal group re:connect from 25. April to 1 May 2015 in Prerov, Czech Republic. The main aim of the training course was to increase competencies of 28 participants coming from 8 countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Macedonia and France) in the area of arts-based community development with and especially to strengthen the competencies of the participants to use different arts based activities including storytelling, visualization or performing art at their work. The training course connected on one side experienced youth workers actively involved in implementation local and interational activities and on other side it also included several new comers in the youth field - young people strongly motivated to develop their competencies in the covered area and contribute to development of their communities. Diversity in the composition of the group showed to be an important asset that especially contribute to the learning from each other process. The training course was designed in line with following objectives: to deepen participants knowledge of the concept of arts-based training, its methods, techniques and tools; to increase participants understanding of arts-based training through sharing practical examples of applying this concept at various settings - youth work, business, social enterprise; to develop participants competencies to apply arts-based training in their practice and work with young people including young people with fewer opportunities; to develop participants creativity, communication, problem solving, presentation, teamwork, leadership competencies through arts-based activities; to increase the quality of activities targeting young people and reflecting on new ways of delivering activities aiming at the personal and professional development of young people; to provide the participants an opportunity to share good working practices from their organizations, reflect on common challenges and create new networks and contacts and to strengthen participants' understanding of Erasmus+ Programme and its Key Actions and provide the participants an opportunity to develop ideas for future cooperation. These objectives were met through participatory workshops that provided the participants an opportunity to work as individually as in different mix - intercultural teams, to take part in interactive presentations or various creative tasks and challenges. All implemented activities were based on non-formal approach and strongly supported direct involvement of the participants. Part of the program were also reflection activities that gave the participants an opportunity to reflect on learning process and development their competencies. Moreover, during the project activities the participants had also an opportunity to directly interact with local community as some of the activities took part at local high school or in the city as performing art activities. Realization of these activities had significant impact on the local community that had an opportunity to not just strengthen their competencies through direct participation in the workshops that took place at local high school but moreover also to broader their perspective by interacting with people coming from different countries and environments and to get to know more about the opportunities that is bringing Erasmus+ Programme. Besides the impact on local community the training course had also strong impact on directly involved participants because they developed new competencies in the area of arts based community development, created new networks and partnerships and also brainstorm an ideas for local and international projects that they would like to realize in their communities or at international level. These new project ideas can be consider as one of the most significant long term result of the training course ‘Art for Community Development’.
