Art Department Masterclass is an internatonal training programme, designed to encourage a professional dialogue between the rising and experienced heroes of the art department. Such medium is essential to fully investigate the process of creativity through interaction, develop new collaborative relations, improve constructive skills, find fresh ideas and get inspired by top professionals of the industry.Our project focuses on art department’s functions in development and production of a feature film, as well as the challenges faced in postproduction due to the digital shift.Our target audience are senior professionals from EU countries, who have 10 or more years of experience in the art department. We’ll invite 20 participants to each of the training sessions. Participants will be carefully selected according to their motivation and qualification. Art Department Masterclass will consist of two 7-days long training sessions each year:World Building: Project Development and Production (Spring - Reykjavik, Iceland)Digital Postproduction: A Playground for Building and Rebuilding Worlds (Autumn - Vilnius, Lithuania)We’ll invite 4 experts to each of these training sessions. Our targerted speakers are globally acknowledged filmmakers, who has recently worked at award winning feature films - Oscar awarded production designer Allan Starski (Schindler's List, dir. S. Spielberg), winners of European Film Awards - production designers Jette Lehmann (Melancholia, dir. L. v Trier) and Sylvie Olive (The Brand New Testament, dir. J.V. Dormael), production designer Laszlo Rajk, who recently worked in Oscar awarded feature film The Son of Saul (dir. L. Nemes) and others.Content of Art Department Masterclass includes theoretical seminars and practical assignments. Practical assignments will be supervised by Emmy awarded production designer Grenville Horner and production designer / art director Fleur Whitlock.
