The bilateral project “Art as inclusion of mentally retarded people” contemplates cooperation with the Neighboring Countries of the European Union (Greece - Belarus) and organization of Youth Exchanges in accordance Program Youth in Action EACEA. In the project two legal non-governmental organizations, competent in inclusion of mentally retarded people, take part in. They are: Special education center (Livadeia, Greece) and Workshops for disabled persons in the church of Our Lady of "Joy of Disconsolate" (Minsk, Belarus). Special education center (Sending organisation) was founded on 1994 and led by a council with the Metropolitan bishop of Thebes and Levadeia Georgios as a chairman and it is one of the institutions belonging to the Holy Metropolis. Workshops for disabled persons (Host organization) were founded in 1997 at the Church of the Icon of Our Lady “Joy of the Disconsolate” (Russian Orthodox Church) and supported by “UNESCO” German commission. All project activities will take place in Belarus. Target audience: 16 young mentally disabled people. Main tasks of the project: to support handicapped people in activity in order to upgrade their life level, to develop their own capacity (communicative competence, culture knowledge, mental outlook etc.) for providing self-development, supporting their psychological stability and comfort and easier integration of handicapped people into the society. Introducing their achievements to the public during the project, we develop social view of severe handicapped people and rise up their quality of life. The duration of activities 7 days (21 April - 27 April 2014). The duration of the project is December 2013 - April 2014.
