‘Art and culture’ is a long term EVS project of six months. We will host 1 volunteer from 5 September 2015 until 5 March 2016. We, the host and coordinating organisation, are a Belgian municipality with experience in the ‘youth in action’ programs, especially EVS (sending and hosting) and youth exchanges. The sending organisation, Youth NGO Iskra, has a large experience of acting as a partner organisation in youth exchanges, trainings, seminars, and study visits. It has sent groups to over 50 international events in the past year. The volunteer, Yuliia , is a 21 year old Ukrain girl. She has a bachelor of publishing and printing and a master of electronic media publications, has a possitive attitude towards art, culture and creativity. The project ‘Art and Culture’ contains several projects and activities concerning youth work, local art and culture, development co-operation, and other social and cultural issues. The department of ‘Welfare and Local Economy’ is a young and dynamic department of the municipality of Heusden-Zolder, our work domains are youth, elderly, Europe, prevention, diversity, educational support, development co-operation, social economy, etc… which means a lot of task and theme diversity for a volunteer. Yulia will have the possibility to experience how a community is structured and how the Department ‘Welfare and Local Economy’ is working to keep the social and cultural life active and enriching. She will work in a group of young and motivated professionals and volunteers which are always open for new ideas. She can create her own projects but can also choose to participate in the existing projects of our department. Our main objective is to give Yulia the chance to broaden her horizon, learn something about Belgium and Heusden-Zolder, upgrade her creative, organising and cultural skills and give her a lifetime enriching experience.
