Arbres d'Europe : de la forêt au bois
Date du début: 1 sept. 2015, Date de fin: 31 août 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our ambition is to develop children in Europe who are aware of the world around them and of the importance of developing sustainability across our continent. We have therefore designed a project which seeks to develop their awareness of the forest, the trees and wood as a material and a natural resource which needs to be preserved and developed. This project targets the 220 from 6 to 12 year old pupils and 30 teachers of the 4 involved primary schools. Each partner school will study the position of the forest, trees and wood in our environment and their importance in the culture of their country. Then they will produce reports (in the form of writing, drawing, photos or videos) of their studies and then put this work on-line. Finally, through the comparison of the work undertaken by each school, the children will be able to discover the environment and culture of their partners and observed the similarities and differences. Each school will write in their own language and in English. Thus we will work on foreign languages using genuine documents. This project will take on a multi-disciplinary approach since the work carried out by the pupils will relate to Science (eco-systems in the forest), Geography (the role and management of the forest, trades related to wood), History (family trees, trees in traditional culture), Literature (trees and forests in traditional tales, poetry and language) and Art (the representation of trees and the forest in paintings, art activities with wood including sculpting and engraving of wood). Monitoring of the implementation will be done through the TwinSpace dedicated to the project ; the evaluation will be done by the project groups in regular contact with the coordinator, and during transnational meetings planned. The work produced by the children will be regulary shared through the schools’ websites, and will also be exhibited locally to the community and the press at the end of each year. Finally an album summarising the work carried out during the course of the project will be produced and spread widely at the end of the partnership.
