Our school is located in a rural area of Málaga and offers both compulsory and non-compulsory secondary education to almost 800 students. It has been following a bilingual (Spanish and English) programme for five years. In the future, we aim to offer classes in English to all the students in the school. Our school contributes four teachers to the project. They all teach bilingually non-linguistic subjects, specifically: Social Sciences, Maths, Science and Personal, Social, Health Education. All the teachers have at least a year’s experience teaching bilingually and, precisely because they teach non-linguistic subjects, they are very keen to acquire skills that allow them to improve their teaching methods. The course that we hope to participate in has a duration of two weeks in which we will carry out three types of activities. In the first place, a series of workshops that aim to take a closer look at CLIL methodology, in the second place, activities that help us come into contact with the reality of the British school system, and finally, a series of activities aimed at improving the language skills of our bilingual teachers. We believe that participating in this course will have a positive impact on the school and the students as well as the teachers themselves. The school will benefit mainly from internationalization. This means that the contacts and bonds created can be useful for future programs with an international slant. The teachers will improve the quality of their teaching, and their experience with the language and culture of Britain will add an international perspective to their skills and knowledge. And last but not least, students will benefit from the newly acquired teaching skills which should make classes more motivating, entertaining and effective and hence improve results too. This course will help consolidate the educational aim of our school, which is to offer our students a good quality education with a special emphasis on language skills which will allow them to create bonds with other European countries and cultures.
