PROJET

Our starting point was more than seven years ago, when our TEA project came to life. It is defined as a platform whose aim is to draw together and unite all teachers of the first stage of ESO, in order to work as a real team and follow the same pedagogical and educational criteria.
A great diversity of students, high rates of early school leaving and low academic results, there was an urgent need for the IES Severo Ochoa in Elche to be involved in new projects in order to seek solutions.
Our aims in this project were:
To contribute to improve our students basic skills acquisition.
To initiate us into new ways of assessment by means of the observation in some European countries.
To innovate and experiment to address diversity, creating links to promote cooperation and staff mobility by sharing experiences with other European institutions.
To improve professional practice with the observation of other realities
To enrich our methodology through the awareness of what is done in other European countries.
To share new organizational proposals with other European teachers.
To learn other ways to involve families and the environment where the school is located in.
To learn new ways to deal with students at risk of dropping out.
To broaden our teachers' minds by means of the visit of the different cultural and linguistic heritages.
To increase the linguistic competence of the participant teachers..
To Improve the quality of teaching and learning process.
To develop new ways of organizing the School and explore new ways of teaching.
To increase the competence level of teachers in order to keep on our innovative process.
In order to reach our objectives, we applied for four mobilities in four European countries. There we have observed teaching practices.
We are aware of the importance of the choice of teachers. This is the reason why the four selected teachers were related to our innovative project to facilitate the dissemination and, in addition, two of them are directly involved in the school organization.
The courses we carried out were:
1- TEACHING SKILLS FOR TEACHERS (ENGLAND), It was held in Porsmouth from 2 to 6 of March. Course organized by TELLUS GROUP. From the attendance to this course on, we have started teaching languages in a different way, with the support of new methodologies such as Cooperative Learning and Project Based Learning .
2- "USAGES PEDAGOGIQUES RESSOURCES DU NUMERIQUE ET DANS LES PROJETS SCOLAIRES OF COOPERATION EUROPÉENNE"(FRANCE): Organized by the Ligue de l'Enseignement. It took place in Paris (from 9 to 17 March 2015). It was based on the innovative approach of the ICT in the classroom made by the French Government to improve their academic results. It also included direct observation in the classroom and learning about the French education system. During the past year we planned to start working on the Project Based Learning Methodology in the 1ºESO level, thanks to the contribution provided by the course, in the current school year, we have carried out the project.Obviously, this course has clearly contributed to our students acquisition, the starting of new ways of evaluation, the attention to the student diversity, the introduction of new methodologies and the increase of our families involvement.
3-"BENCHMARKING COURSE"(FINLAND): Organized by EUNEOS. Course held in Helsinki from the 3th to 10th of October 2015. It was based on the direct observation of teaching practices in Finnish Schools. Learning about the Finnish education system was interesting for us because of the good results they have achieved in recent PISA reports. It also included training in new methodologies. This course has contributed to the initiation of new innovative practices regarding the evaluation, new ideas to improve our students acquisition skills, seek new ways to face the diversity, know about different educational and social realities, and improve our quality of teaching .
4-CREATIVITY IN TEACHING AND HOW TO USE TRAINING & MUSIC, ART, AND SPORT IN EDUCATION ICT.(HOLLAND) It was organized by Quarter Mediation from the 4th to 10th of October 2015. Its aim was to address the issue of the motivation of students with learning disabilities. We were interested in the Dutch educational system and its practical approach, which promotes activities where a social service is provided. It contributed especially in the implementation of service-learning projects in our school, with all the benefits that it entails.It also helped us to open our school to the environment.
The impact of our project has been highly valued in the educational community . We have widespread our experiences with our colleagues, our students and their families; we have reported them to the press, other schools and on our web page.
We can say that our "Learning to Teach" project has been a great opportunity for to increase the awareness of what belonging to Europe means and what the concept of school of the XXI century involves.
