Our pupils are curious and willing to discover other European cultures and English culture and civilization in particular. Situated in a rural area far from solid cultural activities offered by bigger cities (i.e. museums, theatres and cultural events in general), our school needs opportunities to go beyond these limitations. For us, teachers, those opportunities are the ability to acquire new skills and tools that will improve our pedagogy in English. Based on English culture, knowledge and know-how in the educational domain, those skills and tools that we will acquire thanks to ISP courses will benefit us and our pupils.We are three teachers wishing to accomplish our project by implementing the following activities in our classes: nursery rhymes and songs, playground and sport games, language production and particular attention paid to pronunciation. All these activities will be accompanied by the use of technology.Pupils, parents and teachers will be involved in the project before, during and after its accomplishment. Preparatory activities on subjects that will be studied during the courses in England will take place in our classes before our departure (singing in English, first approach of the British culture...). We will also prepare ourselves actively by listening and practicing English as much as possible (listening to BBC radio, rehearsing and training simple communication situations of everyday life).We want our pupils to improve their English pronunciation, vocabulary and open themselves to a new culture. What matters is how pupils will make use of the English culture and language at school and at home thanks to the activities and actions we will set up in our classrooms.In the short term, we wish to involve pupils in showing what they have learned through actions (presentations, exhibitions) outside classrooms and addressed to their parents and local partners (other schools, associations...).In the long term, we plan to make use of this newly acquired European culture on a day-to-day basis in our school but also for other teachers.
