The ¨ IMPLANTACIÓN DEL TIL EN EL COLEGIO PÚBLICO DR. COMAS CAMPS¨ (Implantation of TIL in the DR. Comas Camps public school) project is born from the root of the need that the center presents in relation to the lack of staff trained in the English language and to be able to adapt ourselves to the new regulation established in the Balearic Islands (Decreto 15/2013, from April 19th from which regulates the integrated teaching of the languages of the non-university education centers). This decree implies that there will be an increase in the number of materials that impart a learning of English, therefore for the next school year and those following, our school will need a larger number of certified English-speaking teachers to be able to impart subject material and to be able to offer the students the support necessary, that in this moment we are currently lacking, to acquire the required linguistic competencies. The assistance of two professors with a definitive post in the center that already possess an official English language title (Level B1 from the official school of languages) who want to continue their education and improve their language skills in an English-speaking country, this will allow it to support teachers in the center to carry out a series of activities during the following year (2014-2015) and thus help the development of language skills of students by providing more individualized attention. The center will undertake the following initiatives: 1 - On a personal level, the teachers participating in this project will acquire the language competence necessary to acquire the B2 certification and also a number of resources and methodological strategies will be acquired. 2 – Split in the group will be made possible by having more qualified professors and get thus have lower student teacher ratios. Also it would be possible that in some sessions the staff can give support by having two teachers in the same classroom. All of this will allow more individualized attention to the students. 3 – It will be created by these two collaborating blog resources for teachers and educational games in English for students, collaborating with other teachers and to detect the needs of each of the levels. The entire group of teachers may make contributions in this blog but there will be two administrators in charge. Children from higher levels may also participate in the blog, therefore creating a feedback between teacher and student. 4 - Organization of workshops: children of different levels will be mixed together within the same course. Different recreational activities are also conducted in English (stories, drama, communication with other schools in the English language ...) according to English level. 5 - Once the two teachers are in the destination country, they will attempt to contact a primary school to start a contact or virtual communicative exchange between students of the two countries for the new school year (2014-2015). 6 - Gathering a group of native speaking volunteers to be able to participate directly in the classroom with different activities , depending on the level they assisted in (tales for children, accompanying certain classes, lectures ...) The end result of the project will be to have more qualified personnel to adapt ourselves to the demands of the new law. It will also facilitate a more individualized attention to the students, therefore higher performance and a better competence in the English language. The biggest impact in the institute that we can see will be in two different levels. At the teacher level: Learning will rest on the shoulders of those who attend the training in the foreign country to increase their language skills and gather a range of resources and methodological strategies. This will affect the rest of the faculty from the beginning of the 2014-2015 course by the meetings necessary to implement local initiatives in the project. In conclusion, although the program lasts for one academic year, the benefits for this program will continue for longer because the changes and initiatives started from this program will be continued for many coming years.
