An Orchestra Network for Europe - ONE, is a distinctive network of classical symphony orchestras initiated in 2004. It received support from three grants under the European Union's Culture Programmes from 2005 on. The present period is entitled ONE goes places!Six co-organisers, inspired by a long-standing experience of cooperation, implement intercultural dialogue, trans-national mobility of artists along with circulation of artistic works: Jenaer Phiharmonie (DE), tatny Komorny Orchester (SK), Simfoni ni Orkester RTV Slovinija (SI), Orchestre de Picardie (FR), Filharmonia l ska (PL) and Bohuslav Martin Philharmonic (CZ). Associated partners such as New Symphony Orchestra (BG) and Filharmonia Krakowska (PL) will meet prospective members from Spain, Netherlands and Lithuania. From June 2011 to June 2015, over an area that covers twelve European countries, ONE will carry out a comprehensive project relevant to the European ideal.Networking gives an inclusive sense of belonging to Europe; it sets intercultural dialogue in motion and extends artistic reach across borders while working within and across sectors. Artists who cross set boundaries and share performances with colleagues of another culture become cultural campaigners.ONE has achieved a durable existence, acquired a real identity, gained advocacy, developed into a new dimension to go beyond the local interest, broadened its scope and initiated dialogue with new partners from different parts of our European shared space from Spain to Lithuania and Cyprus to Netherlands.In addition to long-established activities of exchange of orchestra musicians, mobility of chamber groups, composers, young conductors & soloists, circulation of cultural works, joint orchestra performances & coordination meetings, ONE is set to put special emphasis on the pre-professional training of young musicians, their integration in the professional sector and the promotion of their talent through ONE Young Artists Competition.
