An Open Innovation Local Business and Students network in the Barents Region (PRACTICE FUTURE)

PRACTICE FUTURE is an investment in cross-border competence enhancement in entrepreneurship and a support for small and medium-sized local firms. The goal is to strengthen cross-border cooperation of SME in the region, especially small local firms which have limited resources on marketing and research; international knowledge and competence transfer between Higher education and local business; project related integration of local authorities, business associations and entrepreneurship education in order to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in the Barents Region and to overcome barriers on institutional level. Exchange of Russian, Finnish, and Norwegian entrepreneurial competence and expertise will contribute to the implementation of governmental and regional entrepreneurship programmes, will make them more efficient and helps keeping in and bringing young and highly qualified people to the region. The project contributes to overcome the low degree of innovation in the region and will reduce national disparities in Higher education systems and rural disadvantages by creating joint platforms of education in the Barents Region. The project work will also become part of research into cross-faculty entrepreneurship education in peripheral areas. Achievements: The project has helped participants to build individual cross-border networks and has encouraged young people to stay in the region. Many students also showed improved communication and awareness of how to make it as an entrepreneur. The project has also led to a broader integration of entrepreneurship education. Students have learned to work and cope in a multicultural environment.
