The project AMICI - Enhance the Mobility of teachers to strengthen European citizenship and Internationalization – is promoted by the School "G.Binotti” of Pergola, municipality of province of Pesaro-Urbino, in the Marche Region. It arises in the framework of the national and European strategy aimed to promote internationalization of the schools and to encourage the mobility of teachers to enhance the lifelong formal and non-formal learning in order to better respond to the emerging issues generated by global changes.
AMICI starts from a deep analysis of the School "G. Binotti" background, considering three aspects: students, teachers and management organization. Its results highlight the need of empowerment in two directions: cultural and methodological one.
The general objective of the project is to promote the spread of the intercultural experience aimed to grow the participation of the whole school and to globalize education through the mobility of teachers in order to improve an international understanding and the communication with the world.
The specific objective is to improve the quality of education both from a methodological point of view and cultural, increasing attention to the values of democracy and of European citizenship, supporting the growth and active participation of students, considering the international mobility as added value of the educational path, improving the language skills of non-language teachers, promoting the exchange of good practices and encouraging a wider use of ICT.
The project has a total duration of 24 months. The "core" activity is the international mobility involving eight teachers of the school. The hosting countries of the mobility flows are: France, United Kingdom and Malta. The planned activities have a short duration. Participants were selected on the basis of their expression of interest, of previous experience, the curriculum , the adhesion of the needs collected by them to the targets set under the European Development Plan .
The strategy of the project is to make the teachers participating ambassadors with the task of reporting , when returned, skills and methods to share with the rest of the school staff through moments of confrontation and training and to test acquired skills programming training modules to encourage the use of complementary teaching methods to the traditional ones.
In addition to the preparation and management of the mobility flows and the experimental transfer and testing of acquired skills, the project provides other 3 phases: monitoring, evaluation and dissemination of results. In parallel, it will be guaranteed a constant technical and organizational support from the school’s staff.
The outputs of the project are two:
- Collection of reports concerning the experience of each teacher’s mobility and the results achieved;
- Guidelines (English and French).
The direct beneficiaries of the project are selected teachers who participate in mobility activities abroad, while the indirect beneficiaries will be: all teachers, students, parents, administrative staff, the territory and the school. They represent the privileged subjects of the dissemination phase which, on the one hand, aims to identifying stakeholders at the local level with which to develop future synergies, enriching the educational path, on the other hand aims to develop a European dimension which allows to involve the students in the future activities provided by international exchange programs .
The long-term impact will be assessed on the basis of the correspondence between provided actions and objectives of the project.
The internationalization gives to the School "G.Binotti", an important perspective: the twist between cultures and socio-economic conditions stimulates to research and develop new teaching content, methods and programs. The intercultural approach, therefore, assumes the right of a pedagogical value across all the disciplines thanks to which the school reaches the awareness that its task is not only to raise awareness and understanding of the cultures, but to search for values to shared, to build the global cohabitation developing global projects. Activating mechanisms for changing the attitudes enriches the traditional educational and pedagogical system giving a valid response to the complexity determined by the continuous global changes.
