All in the Same Boat - Becoming an Activist Against Hate
Date du début: 31 déc. 2016, Date de fin: 30 déc. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

In response to the “refugee-crisis”, reaction of the host communities and the increasing online “hate speech”, this project aims to empower youth workers and youth leaders to identify and prevent hate speech and other possible problems in the communities regarding integration of minorities and youth. The aim of the project is to create a sustainable long-term project, with the duration of one year, which includes a training course a youth exchange and a seminar, in order to develop competences in Youth and Youth Workers for the advocacy and mediation of a trully multicultural community/society, focusing in the integration of migrants and ethnic minorities as well as the promotion of no hate speech and anti-discriminatory strategies. We will involve 40 youth workers and youth leaders from 8 different countries. The methodology used will be mainly non-formal educational methods, giving preference to interactive and dynamic activities done in small groups and with a good balance of knowledge, debates, reflection and practice. The first activity is a training course in Porto, Portugal, during May 2017, with the goal to give competences to the youth workers to tackle hate speech and become the multipliers, to enable them to transfer their knowledge, skills and attitudes to their targeted young people. Then we will have the inter-phase activity, where the youth workers will conduct a series of workshops and preparations meetings in their organizations as well as select 4 young people and prepare them for the Youth Exchange event, our second main activity, taking place in Bansko, Bulgaria, in May 2017. This activity has as aim to transform participating young people into activists - “No Hate Speech Ambassadors” and “Peace Ambassadors”. Then it follows the second inter-phase activity, where the participants need to arrange a series of campaigns combating hate speech in their communities, to be held in the 20th June - World Refugee Day. The last activity is a Seminar, taking place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in July 2017. The main aim is to consolidate competences and disseminate the achievements by producing a short manual/booklet of good practices to inspire others. This project as two main outcomes. One is a booklet of good practices for no hate speech and multiculturalism to be distributed by others NGOs and inspire others to engage in the “No hate Ambassadors” community. The second outcome is the creation of an active and exchanging platform. In this platform new local projects will be developed and youth empowered to be active citizens in everyday-life situations and to contribute for a truly democratic and inclusive society These outcomes will ensure the project visibility, dissemination and sustainability. Regarding the expected impact, at a micro level we will create the group of multipliers – “No Hate Speech Ambassadors”, who will be able to tackle hate speech and discrimination, combat stereotypes and xenophobia, help the vulnerable groups and victims. At a meso level, the main impact is the creation of national and international networks of actively engaged youth, with a continuous exchange of information, knowledge and know-how. We are expecting the promotion of better communities in the sense of being more tolerant, peaceful and equal. At a macro level, we will have more young people participating in policy-making by making use of good advocacy strategies.
