Alienation and Identity in Contemporary European Literature – 8 Books To Be Translated Into Serbian is Dereta's publishing project that includes 8 awarded authors from 8 EU countries. All titles would be presented to Serbian audience for the first time. We have acquired (conditional) rights and we will translate into Serbian, disseminate and promote those books on the best possible way.Cross point for all titles is the question of alienation, which we find as one of most important topic in contemporary literature in general. Problem of alienation, which became such a huge aspect of our everyday life, is inevitably connected to question of identity: existential, social, gender, national. Can we survive apart from others, and does others threat to our individualism?We believe that there is no better way to promote EU values in Serbia then through highly praised literary works.We have three winners of EU Prize for Literature, Evie Wyld (All the Birds, Singing, won also Miles Franklin Literary Award and Encore Award), Tomáš Zmeškal ("Milostný dopis klínovým písmem" won Josef Škvorecký Award in 2009), Millen Ruskov's "Възвишение" won Golden Century Award, Elias Canetti Award. Novel "Cruciada Copiilor" by Florina Ilis won Romanian Book of the Year 2005 Prize and Courrier International Prize (Paris) for best foreign book. Juan Goytisolo is one of the most renowned contemporary Spanish writers who won Cervantes Prize 2014. for life literary achievement . His last novel "El exiliado de aquí y allá" is praised as on of his best. Árpád Kun's novel "Boldog Észak" won Aegon Prize for 2014, most prestigious Hungarian literary award. Fernando Pessoa's classic "Livro do Desassossego" (edited by Jerónimo Pizarro, recognized expert for Pessoa's work), widely accepted as one of the greatest literary works of 20th century, was pronounced as the most important book published in Spain and Portugal in 2014. by renowned critics Manguel and Cebrián, from El País.
