The youth exchange project – „Active Youth – The Key to the Future!“ is a joint project between Estonia and Finland. This project will enable to carry out a reflective flashback on the first voluntary work project which took place in the October of 2013 in Kuressaare. The retrospect will enable to develop the thought of voluntary work further and give a short written and figurative overview. Moreover, this project will help the participants to analise the meanwhile gathered experiences even better and deeper. This youth exchange is a follow-up activity for introducing different options for doing voluntary work, various methods and opportunities, pros and cons and ways how to make voluntary work more popular, qualitative and professional. In addition, this project will provide the participants with different ways and principles of marketing and selling your ideas. This will help the participants to prepare to get ready for the voluntary work fair which will gather different youth from Rovaniemi community and call them to carry out active voluntary work in order to to became active citizens. The emphasis will be put on the fact that the youth will find and recognise a „key“ through voluntary work which in the future can open several doors for them. The project will also give participants knowledge about Erasmus+ programme and its operational opportunities and fields of action. The youth will be given an opportunity to exchange voluntary work experiences. In addition to the weekly programme which includes several active learning methods, group work and different ways for self-expression, such as group work, presentations, discussions, lectures a versatile cultural programme will enrich the weekly programme: city tour, visit to the Santa Claus village, international evening, sport activities and swimming. The outcome of this project will be a video which will give an overview and a summary of the topic – „Active Youth – The Key to the Future!“ All of the participants will be given YouthPass Certificates in order to recognise and determine their learning outcomes and experiences. The project activities will be continually introduced in the web and in the home towns of the partners in Finland and in Estonia. This will take place during the preparatory phase of the project and during the youth exchange week and follow-up analysing part. All in all, the aim of this project is to fulfill the following object: to teach the youth that volunteering is mostly about helping others who need help, either in the community or in a wider perspective and learning more about how the voluntary work context can provide you with the feeling of self-purpose and sense of well-being. The project will show that being active through voluntary work has therefore many several benefits.
