HAMAK Project is aimed to teen mothers and their children. It has been prepared by five psychology students, in a form of workshops for 8-15 persons, for 12 consecutive meetings in the area of Tricity. These meetings are intended to help young mothers pull themselves together in a new life situation, i.e. early or too early motherhood. It has been culturally accepted that after a childbirth, a woman resigns from her own needs for the sake of her newborn baby. Our project will help young mothers find equilibrium between their needs and the obvious needs of the infant, organize their time efficiently to be able to still pursuit their goals or just to relax. This will, in time, turn out to be beneficial for the development of their children. Moreover, specialists and experts invited to these meetings will provide answers to many questions young mother have about the first years of their children's lives. Teen mothers will be able to meet pediatricians, educators, psychologists, child life specialists and experts in child development. In addition, our long run objective is to overcome stereotype our society holds about the teen motherhood; increase social awareness and sensitize its members to the needs of young mothers, so often left to their own resources. A number of workshops will be recorded and presented to a wider audience. All parties are to profit out of this project: young teen mothers will gain professional support and assistance, children will be supervised to get best care and understanding in their development, whereas the authors of this project will be able to practice psychology and spend time actively.
