Agit-pop is a training course for youth workers and educators. We have had 30 participants from Armenia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Egypt, Macedonia, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Turkey, Ukraine and Spain, and expert trainers on gender issues and the development of creativity. In this course we have joined the need to promote gender equality among young people with the development of elements of popular culture as a way to approach them and also to interpret the stereotypes and social roles, which are the origin of patriarchy and produce injustices between groups. The working methods have a compendium of different holistic learning tools, such as performances, working groups and to share experiences, debates, games social interaction and personal learning plan and removed informal learning tools, and we also have imputs experts and trainers. It has emphasized the use of popular culture: comics, TV series, mainstream movies and books, etc, to analyze the use society makes of the female body, the idea of romantic love and the social roles that are defined in works of fiction and that have been naturalized to the point of not questioning their validity or ethics. In the short term it has made an impact on the participants, who have acquired new knowledge and perspectives in addressing gender issues in different countries and have also learned more about popular culture and how to use it for young people reflect on the relations of power, patriarchy, romantic love and stereotypes. Organizations and educators now have a guide for activities to promote gender equality, badges to promote it, a greater understanding of the Erasmus + program and strengthening of their networks with international partners. In the long term this project helps to fight injustice generated by the division of roles in patriarchy and to educate youngsters in Equality.
