By inviting an EVS-participant to come and do voluntary work at the Dutch AFS Office, we offer an intercultural learning opportunity to a young person from Germany, and offer him possibilities to grow personally and professionally. He will learn about working in a large volunteerdriven international organisation, and will be able to explore cutural differences and similarities of German and Dutch cultures. Throughout the project the volunteer will be given the opportunity to raise concerns, to involve own ideas further to the tasks set at the beginning. The active involvement of the volunteer in defining and shaping her/his tasks will be essential for avoiding job substitution and for a taylormade learning experience. Apart from the voluntary work, we will support the participant in getting involved in social life in the Netherlands. The fact that we run international exchange programs will enable him to not only familiarize with Dutch people but also with a large group of young people from all over the world.
