Actualización, innovación y creatividad metodológica para la mejora de la enseñanza bilingüe

The Project “Update, Innovation and creative methodology to improve the quality of bilingual teaching” has been worked out by IES Pérez Comendaror, a public Secondary School in Plasencia with a staff of 59 teachers and teaching students from the same town and some nearby villages. All the stages in Secondary Education (including a bilingual section), Bachllerato and Vocational Training studies are available in our school. The main objective this European Developement Programme persues is improving the quality in the learning-teaching process together with increasing motivation in our students by means of new pedagogical strategies, and setting an starting point for future KA2 actions in the european framework. Special enhancement needs have been diagnosed and this project is aimed at meeting these needs. They all refer to methodology refreshing in every academic subject, using new technology in the classroom and fostering the improvement of linguistic skills in teachers and students. The project includes a multidisciplinary team of teachers, covering all the educational fields and stages taught in the school (maths, science, arts, English, history, Vocational Training, PE....) with the suitable comunication skills required for each of the planned mobilities, broad teaching experience and high interest in bringing teaching innovation into the classroom. They are firmly committed to providing our school with a European dimension. Our project will last 24 months and the activities will revolve around language competence update, methodological innovation and CLIL. - Fluent and English Language Development for Teachers in Malta - English for teachers in Dublín - Active Methodology in Edinburgh. - ICT for teaching. A Course for Teachers in Dublín - Elearning with Digital Extra in Stockholm -Discovering Renaissance Art in Florence - Structured visit to schools (jobshadowing) in Reykjavik - CLIL in Dublin: Content and Language Integrated Learning - CLIL for teachers, an inquiry-based approach in Limerick -CLIL. Practical methodology for teachers who teach science, maths or technical subjects bilingually in English at Secundary Education en Cheltenham The members will follow a methodology based on regular interdisciplinary meetings to schedule the development timetable, follow-up activities, reports to the teaching staff, hands-on workshops and discussions. Apart from that,we will take advantage of online websites, such as Etwinning as tools for collaborative work to spread ,share and provide information and digital material. Several assessment sessions will be held to reflection on the objectives achieved. Regarding the project outcome, the teachers involved are expected to to actively improve their teaching and language skills and to integrate new technologies and ICT in the classroom.To the same extend, the involvement of the whole institution will result in a new European dimension. As far as students are concerned, the impact is expected to be stronger, since all these actions will foster their participation and motivate them. Likewise, in the long-term, new perspectives will be open to our school and we are sure about the fact that this will be the starting point for future Erasmus Projects.
