Theatre for Active Citizenship

ACTING-OUT Theatre for Active Citizenship is a training course (Action 3.1), 7 days long, that will be run in Augusta (SR), Sicily, ITALY and will see the participation of 29 social and youth workers, representatives of local associations and social cooperatives, trainers, facilitator and supports staff from Italy, France, Rumania, Greece, Russia, Armenia, Moldova and Belarus. The theme of the project is art and theatre as a tool to intervene the EU and EEC suburbs, to approach young people and adults coming from problematic backgrounds who face difficulties in being included in the local communities. The aim of the training is to provide participants, who daily work with adolescents, young people and adults who were themselves involved in micro-criminality or had problems with the laws, of innovative working methods, based on non formal education and theatre, to empower their capability to manage conflicts in the groups, to concretely promote legality and to become active citizens able to run grass-rooted initiatives on their local backgrounds.The project implementation, consisting in two interactive workshops, one of social inclusion and non formal education and one on theatre, will develop the following topics: the different “shapes” of legality; different targets-different exclusions: analysis of differences and similarities, with a specific focus on the suburban dimension in the EU and EEC cities; active citizenship, respect of the laws and participation in society: good practices; non formal education and theatre to facilitate the “reinsertion” in society; the transmission of knowledge to other beneficiaries. A study visits and a final event will be organized. During the training interactive methodologies based on non formal education and theatre will be proposed. Knowledge and skills will be shared following a peer to peer approach and it will facilitate the participants learning assessment.
