Acquérir des pratiques innovantes et développer les compétences linguistiques des professeurs de Langues vivantes I.
Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Guy Môquet secondary school , located in St Benoît (Reunion Island) , has identified as a priority the need of enhancing the linguistic professional skills of the English language teachers and the developing of creative methodology to fight against school failure. The school has selected four voluntary English teachers to attend a professional development course, in total immersion in London. The training organization chosen by these teachers has collaborated in setting up a specific development course , both in terms of date (during Reunion Island school holidays) and contents: It was agreed that the development course would be “à la carte” to suit the specific school needs regarding knowledge and know-how. The European development plan of Guy Moquet secondary school has revealed the need to acquire new educational approaches in the communication skills as defined in the Common European framework of Reference for languages in order to adapt English teaching to the latest academic demands ( same-skill grouping) and to the local school public (in difficulty). To be as relevant as possible regarding the academic instructions for the teaching of the English language in a European class (class for advanced pupils), the school European Development Plan highlights training needs in teaching phonetics and in creative methodology to increase the cultural dimension of an English-speaking country in teaching practices. Immersion in an English-speaking country and active participation to a structured course –including class observations and analyses – will enable the teachers to enhance the teaching of English in their school and increase pupils’ involvement in English classes. Furthermore, it will give a more european perspective to the school which has already been initiated through cultural celebrations such as the “languages and cultures week” or by encouraging strategic partnerships in european projects (etwinning, Erasmus +).
