Access (EMTACCESS)
Date du début: 31 mai 2011, Date de fin: 30 déc. 2013 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project idea came from the observations of the project partners and LP that showed similar tendencies in the Baltic sea region. Firstly, every year hundreds of young artists graduate in the Baltic sea region and become aspiring professionals that are operating in the same market. Secondly, the stately funding is decreasing rather than growing and current economic prognosis doesn`t show the change in this tendency. This implies that the artists have to find other sustainable ways to support their work and living. It is also quite obvious that a lot of arts graduates don`t have the skills to become entrepreneurs and also don`t feel the desire to do so. Many see entrepreneurship as selling their art and giving up high quality. Partners believe that they are capable of changing this image and not only share entrepreneurial skills amongst arts students, but also introduce entirely new approaches to the art market and redefine the role of universities in this process. The project is divided into 5 WPs: Management, Knowledge and Foresight, New Frames, URIDEA and Sustainable Creativity Management. The Management ensures the smooth operating of the whole project, financial, techincal and administrative. The responsibilities are divided between the partner institutions, each of them has appointed a project coordinator and a financial manager. Steering Group (SG), consisting of representatives of all the partners (8 in total) would be responsible for overall project management, monitoring and coordination. The Knowledge and Foresight covers: artistic employability study, mapping of arts applied in society, analyzing the role of universities in the research and development of lifelong learning. This WP aims to map the existing studies and use them as a basis for the new research, rather than start from scratch and repeat the activities that have been already carried out by the previous projects. WP 3 is aimed to test the knowledge gathered in the WP 2 and provide a networking platform for the project target groups. WP 4 is aimed to ensure cooperation betweeen management and arts students, integrating the project outcomes to the cultural management curricula. Altogether 5 groups of cultural management students will prepare 5 different events as part of their work practice, but the ideas for these events will be proposed by the arts students. The WP is based on the belief of the partnes that strategically cooperation of the creative and business sides has to be taught already in university, then afterwards it will have more chances to be sustained in professional life. WP5 is meant to make arts graduates and practising artists more competent in their employability and entrepreneurial skills. Training module for univeristies and one for the lifelong learning will be developed. The information dissemination and project promotion will be done as part of all the WPs. Achievements: EMTACCESS has built a framework for art students to foster and support their creative ability. The project aimed to help them to develop the skills necessary to working in the creative economy and raise their competitiveness in the Baltic market as a whole. The project provided a detailed assessment of the existing creative industry development strategies, employment and show-case possibilities as well as the needs of the arts and music students in the Central Baltic region. Additionally, the project produced a development plan covering themes such as the employability of graduates in the arts, the role of universities in lifelong learning, and the wider application of arts in society. The students and practitioners targeted by the project have since been able to build up a strong professional network in the programme area.
