http://angle.up.pt/Project objective:The main objectives of this project are the strengthening of the cooperation between Europe and the ACP countries in Higher Education and also the capacity building of the Human Resources of partner institutions through the implementation of student and staff mobility. In particular, this project aims at supporting the ACP countries’ socio-economicdevelopment through the cooperation in Higher Education. The ANGLE partnership also seeks to promote mutual knowledge transfer and capacity building within the partnership and extend its influence to associates and other universities in the ACP region. Finally, the consortium seeks to ensure that the project will be implemented in full respect and safeguard of these countries’ cultural identity and respect idiosyncratic traits and characteristics.Brief description:Our consortium is composed by 20 Universities with campuses in 39 countries: 7 European (Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, The Netherlands and Portugal), 8 African (Angola, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Republic of Congo, Senegal), 11 Caribbean (Antigua & Barbuda; Bahamas; Barbados; Belize; Dominica; Grenada; Jamaica; St. Kitts & Nevis; St Lucia; St. Vincent & the Grenadines; Trinidad & Tobago) and 12 Pacific (Cook Islands, East Timor, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu). As part of the strategy to disseminate the project over a vast geographical area, the partnership includes 32 associates: 6 important university associations (SG, GC, IAU, AULP, AUF, UNICA), 3 regional networks (ACPCSF, RUFORUM, ANIE), 2 ONGS(RoçaMundo, CEAUP), and 21 Universities. The ANGLE project ensures a balanced distribution among the 6 regions foreseen for the lot 15, by including 8 African partners (2 partners in Central Africa; 2 partners in Eastern and Southern Africa; 2 partners in Southern Africa and 2 partners in Western Africa); 1 partner in the Caribbean and 2 partners in the Pacific region. Therefore, the ANGLE project has partners in each one of the 6 ACP regions. Despite this geographical balance and being conscious of the high number of many other eligible ACP countries, beyond the 39 already covered within the partnership, the ANGLE project also offers, under Target Groups 2 and 3, mobility opportunities to students from other countries. Many ACP countries are investing in the expansion of their Higher Education Systems to face the high demanding challenges of socio-economic development. The access to master programs should be understood as the next step for the strengthening of the teaching staff capacity and the Higher Education Systems’ evolution. The consortium supports Master and PhD mobility and teaching and training activities for TG1, to enable partners to develop their internal capacity by providing opportunities to their staff for education, research, teaching and cooperation. In the mobility distribution, the consortium gives priority to full master. This will enable applicants from all Target Groups to develop their research and education skills. Therefore, the ANGLE partnership is fully committed to create the grounds to enable ACP universities to actively participate in their country’s higher education changing process. The ANGLE project will give emphasis to the thematic areas of education and teacher training, medical sciences, engineering and technology, applied sciences and informatics, agricultural sciences, natural and social sciences and management. The project will promote a total of 113 students and staff mobility flows: 104 from ACP to Europe and 9 (only academic and administrative staff) from Europe to the ACP region.
