TERMINÉ
Being an educational institution with tradition in the automotive field, Colegiul Tehnic "Latcu Voda" Siret meets the training needs of the young generation due to the fact that it offers mechanics as basic training, and over time has had qualifications of auto mechanic, auto electrician, auto vulcanizer and tinsmith for vocational and technical education, and qualifications of electro-mechanic and transport technician for high school. Student training is conducted in partnership with local and regional economic agents and other institutions involved in the training and advancement of education. Our school’s major need was to train students at European standards in order to enhance young graduates’ inclusion to the labour market, as well as to increase quality in education by developing professional skills and abilities. Due to the technical and technological progress in the car industry it is necessary to do practical training in countries with tradition in this field. By participating in practical training activities abroad, future graduates are able to meet the demands of economic agents and to put into practice the skills and competencies acquired. The outcome of internship training in another country is to facilitate the process of transition from education and training to the labor market, strengthening European cooperation in education and training. Given the needs mentioned above, the project "Abilitati si competente practice europene in pregatirea viitorilor mecanici si tehnicieni sireteni" ("European practical skills and competences in the training of future engineers and technicians from Siret") was implemented in our school in the period 09.01.2015 - 08.31.2016. The project was aimed at students from vocational and technical education, and teachers of VET subjects.
The overall objective was to raise the students’ chances for professional development in order for future auto mechanics and transport technicians to acquire a high level of training necessary for their inclusion to the labour market, as well as to increase interest in vocational education through the opportunity of training at European standards in transnational partnerships.
Specific objectives:
- to improve knowledge, professional skills and abilities for future auto mechanics and transport technicians, with a view to their transition from school to workplace through learning mobilities;
- to develop expertise skills as well as job specific skills in a set professional environment in order to adapt training standards for vocational and technical education.
The project partners have vast experience in mobility and job shadowing activities, being involved in projects with other technical colleges from our country. As they were cooperative partners, we were able to agree on all the details for the smooth running of the training sessions and the achieving of the proposed goals.
The project was divided into three streams out of which two for students and one for teachers. The streams for students, which meant job shadowing in Italy and Germany, consisted of practical training internships respecting the curriculum appropriate to the training level of the students in the target group. The teachers participating in the project had a work program consisting of visits and direct observation activities in VET institutions. The first stream for 15 students of class XI, mechanics field, transport technician qualification, and two accompanying teachers took place between 31/01/2016 - 02/13/2016 at WBS Training AG Dresden, Germany. The second stream of 3 teachers in vocational and technical education and the VET institution leader was held at Wisamar Bildungsgesellschaft gemeinnuetzige GmbH in the period 28.02.2016 - 05.03.2016. The last flow of the project for 14 students of class X, mechanics field, auto mechanic qualification, and 2 accompanying teachers was held between 04/03/2016 - 16/04/2016 at European Grants International Academy Srls Unipersonale, Italy.
The management of the project was conducted in cooperation with the partners. The building of practical skills in the mechanical field, auto mechanic and transport technician qualifications, for 29 students enabled them to become familiar with the terminology and tools specific to the project theme, and provides best practice examples for colleagues in our school, other schools in the county and in the country. The evaluation of the project was conducted by Colegiul Tehnic "Latcu Voda" Siret and together with the host institutions, during and after the internships. The project results were disseminated through publication of articles in newspapers and magazines, in four media sources, on educational websites and through practical activities during which the learning outcomes were presented.
