Aberdeenshire Teacher Language Training
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

In response to the Scottish Government's 1+2 Approach Report on Language Learning which aims to introduce modern languages at an early stage in line with the European language learning model Aberdeenshire Council's Primary schools will introduce a second foreign language from P1 to P7 and a third foreign language from P5 to P7. This language teaching will be fully integrated into children's learning as they progress across the curriculum and we are currently in the initial stages of training out teachers. We would like to send 10 teachers to the LFEE Immersion courses with a view to them becoming language champions in their clusters and disseminating their experiences and knowledge to their cluster schools. They will then form part of a staff training program to provide professional development to Aberdeenshire teachers. It is hoped that participation in Erasmus+ will create links with other teachers across Europe which can be exploited to create meaningful and lasting relationships with other language learners and enable Aberdeenshire to give a wide ranging and multi-cultural approach to 1+2 primary language learning. Participants are keen to be involved in dissemination of their experiences across their clusters. Their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm will be used to motivate and train their colleagues to deliver quality and relevant language learning and cultural awareness experiences in their classes.t is envisaged that the Erasmus+ course will raise the confidence and ability of participants to teach Modern Foreign Languages in their class and raise the profile of Languages across their clusters and in Aberdeenshire. In line with the recommendations of the 1+2 policy schools can start to embed the target language within schools in a more natural way, on a daily basis rather than in drop in sessions. Schools will benefit from being multilingual establishments having signs in different languages and organising assemblies in target language whilst looking and building an appreciation for other countries and their music, life and culture.
