Preschool period of 0-6 age is the period when children's physical, mental, social and linguistic developments are at the highest and fastest level. Preschool education refers to the best applications to help children undergo this period in a healthy way. When looke at the most developed countries in Europe in terms of preschool education (England, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy) it is seen that Montessori is the most applied method used to prepare children for life. In Montessori education, a child learns to make himself/herself more independent and this learning comes true within certain boundries and responsibilities. This type of an education takes place in an environment prepared for the child where she/he feels independent to form his/her personality, where his/her developmental process is supported and his/her individualization and socialization is taken seriously. It is a child centered system where the teacher is at the monitoring position and 70% of the success of education is up the teacher. Preschool program in Turkey is similar to the system in Europe in terms of taking child at the center but in practice, teacher centered appications are dominant.Thus, for Montessori and Innovatie Preschool Applications in EU to be applied in Turkey, we need qualified teachers and materials. To contribute to meet this need, participants from our school will have the opportunity to observe Montessori and Innovatie Preschool Applications in EU and will get a training in this field. After the project is completed, the participants will have acquired knowledge and skills about innovative and different applications in preschool education in Europe and they will share their knowledge and experience in other preschool institutions our district. They will have acquired a strong and broader vision and developed their vocational skills. Knowledge, skills, attitutes and self-confidence that comprise their professional capacity will be developed in the field of preschool education. The participants are 10 teachers and two administrators from Halide Edip Adıvar preschool, Atakum, Samsun. Teachers and administrators are graduates of four year Preschool Teaching department of Faculty of Education. Administrators have degree of master in preschool training and two teachers continue their education in second university. Our teachers have 8 years of experience in average.Our school is the largest in terms of student population in Samsun. Although there are quite a lot of preschools and kindergartens(sate and private) in the neighbourhood, our school is the most demanded one and students are enrolled within the limits of legal allowance. Trainees from 19 Mayıs University Department of Preschool Education continue their training in our school As participants, we need to see and have knowedge about Montessori and Innovatie Preschool Applications in EU and want to adapt and integrate what we learnt in our school. Our school is the largest preschool in Samsun in terms of its student population. This projectis prepared to develop the current teaching programme and to give educational services to this student capacity in EU standards and to enhance the quality of education and institutional capacity. Training to be taken from Europe will also provide the necessary infra structure (in terms of knowledge and experience)for the installation of pilot Montessori class that is among the school's objectives. Training to be taken from prominent institutions in Germany and Belgium will contribute to the participants and our institution in terms of globalization.Participants will share their experience and knowledge in the web site, thorugh evaluation report in the town with other preschools and in seminar periods with other preschool teachers in Atakum district. The host organisations are locatedin germany and Belgium. The one in Germany embraces 50 kindergartens in Augsburg and is responsible for the all preschools in the region. Other host organisation is located in Brussels/Belgium (Eekhoutcentrum ) and has given preschool education , trainings for trainers, internships, innovation since 1974. Both institutions have been applying Montessori system in their schools successfully for years.
