Context and objectives : Our structure, certified by the European Commission, has for mission to welcome and to inform the citizens about the European Union. Move Europe closer to citizens in our main objective Activities, team and methodology: For that purpose, our Center welcomes the public from Tuesday till Friday, we provide him with free brochures of information. A web site and a Facebook page are regularly updated to inform the general public about the EU. We organize playful and interactive interventions in schools (primary schools, middle schools(colleges), high schools, universities), etc. Events are also set up to the general public : forums, conferences ... The volunteers will be hosted in a working environment where the key phrase is cultural diversity. As part of this team, the volunteers will work towards the following learning outcomes: French language skills, knowledge of the European Union and its workings, workings of French associations and French administration, working in a multicultural environment and working with different sectors of the public. Furthermore, they will be offered the opportunity to take French language classes at a suitable organisation or even at the university. Their missions will be to accompany members of the team in giving presentations to different groups (school pupils, students, adults, young people with fewer opportunities, etc.), to speak about their own experiences, cultures, customs and diversity. They will work with the public during some of the centre’s opening hours, hold information stands on the theme of mobility (Forum du lycéen à l’étudiant, Journées de l’international) and contribute to managing the documentation centre. 2014 is also the year of the centenary of the World War I : School interventions and projects will be developed on this subject with the volunteers. They will also have the opportunity to create educational tools (e.g.games and posters) and new concepts for presentations. All the differents missions given to them will bring them closer to the people of Picardy, fostering dialogue and exchange and thus quickly improving their French language skills and knowledge of French and local culture. All those missions will take place with the support of the team and tutors. Impact and benefits : We wish to strengthen the European dimension of our activities and to cross the looks of the European youth thanks to the coming of the volunteers. Potential advantages : increase the mobility of the young inhabitants of Picardy and develop the information " by the peers "
