A mobility action in Interaction Design Research Focused on Natural Motion Capturing Process for Creative Industries (NaMoCAP)
Date du début: 1 janv. 2013, Date de fin: 31 déc. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Overall objective of this proposal aims to establish a pilot mobility structure in a practice-based research education to support the competitive capabilities of the EU motion capturing industry. We focus on cooperation between Koç University as a Turkish research institute and Imagination Studios a leading Swedish industrial company. It is intended to create a successful pilot mobility structure in research education, focused on motion capturing processes for the creative industry. Turkish sectors need to create a better innovative structure together with research institutes to be part of the European creative industries market to improve the global competitiveness of the EU. On the other hand, as a European country, the Swedish motion capture industry, like Imagination Studios (IMS), needs to grow for better competitiveness in the global market. They need new innovative applications and approaches to improve motion capture processes to get better results for games and movies. Therefore we are planning to focus on the creative design based research needs for a game-based motion capturing system: At the moment, there are a few technologies, which could be used to develop a system to support the acting and to create a more immersive acting environment. Yet, most of these systems are still bulky and do not fully give a feeling of freedom to actors while performing. We believe that the current state of the art will be advanced significantly with the use of a technology for user centered 3D display using head-mounted laser projection and polarized contact lenses, which is being developed at KU. Therefore the main objective of this IAPP proposal is to analyze “how to create an immersive environment for actors who should perform effectively and naturally at motion capture (MoCap) shoots for game-based animations”. The end result will be a system and its design guideline that will significantly increase the effectiveness and accuracy of a motion capture shoot.
