A journey through the literary Europe
Date du début: 15 sept. 2014, Date de fin: 30 déc. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Five writers, five works and one project standing not only as a simple proposal, but as the result of the Romanian readers’s needs, of some of their expectations related to the concept of “European identity” in a global context. The first aim of our project is to promote authors who are not well known among the Romanian readers, although their value was certified through important awards or nominations. In this respect, we try to “repair” a certain outphasing of the Romanian literary scene and to open the doors to a pertinent debate around them. We conceived this project as an exciting journey across four countries, giving their best in terms of literary merits and having a common meeting point: the Romanian readers. We'll start with "Ulysses" by James Joyce, the masterpiece of the European literature which will have a brand new translation and approach. We'll continue our road through the United Kingdom, where Kate Atkinson will give her best in the incomparable "Life after life" and we will move slowly to Germany, which reveals the dramatic tribulations of the human spirit in front of history ("Die Ringe des Saturn" by W.G.Sebald) and in front of Love ("Liebesgedichte" by B.Brecht). Our last stop will be in Czech Republic, from which we will bring, for the first time in Romania, a huge author totally unknown by the readers: Jachym Topol. We want to make them known, to encourage debates about them, to promote and to present their works as a distinguished treasure of the European and universal literature.
