A Crazy Tour Of Reason

The project “A.C.T.O.R. – A Crazy Tour of Reason”, according to the aims delineated in the planning stage, during the two years of the project, developed a series of initiatives aimed at give the opportunity to mentally ill people to improve their acquired abilities, knowledge and skills in relation to theatre. Each organization involved into the project has been working with mentally ill people for several years now, using theatre activities as a means of re/integrating them into society. During the first reunion, a kick-off meeting on Skype, the partners started to collaborate and prepared a first draft of the program and the plan of the activities, also there was a discussion about the methodologies utilized by each organization and how to utilize them to increment the theatre abilities, knowledge and skills of the mentally ill people involved into the transnational laboratories and performance. The exchange was therefore prolific for each organization involved into the project.Within the project, laboratories, performance and events were realized during three transnational meetings: the first one in Italy, the second one in Czech Republic and the third in Poland. The theatre activities and the performances were powerful elements for transformation that were able to bring the organizations involved, and not only the mentally ill people, a number of personal, cultural and social benefits.The institutions had the opportunity to share best practice and to acquire informations on social integration modalities through theatre activities. The project facilitated the building of “bridges” to develop a strong European network of mental health organizations who promote therapies through theatre and as result the establishment of a future cooperation at European level.As to the personal benefits, for people suffering from mental disorder, the transnational laboratories scheduled were an important opportunity for acquire new competencies.
